What Is Male-Pattern Baldness? How Can You Fight Back?

This is the most common form of baldness which we call Androgenic Alopecia or gradual miniaturization of hair follicles. The reason can be genetic but external factors do come into play. It differs from case to case.

How does it appear?

Commonly, this kind of baldness starts appearing above the temples and calvaria of the scalp. Over the time it spreads in all directions finally resulting in a rim of hair on the rear and the sides.
This is the classic case of Alopecia and normally does not lead to full baldness.
• It can be a genetic trait, passed on to the person from his predecessors in the family.

• It can be due to increased rate of DHT production in the body. DHT or Dihydrotestosterone is the chief hormonal cause of follicle miniaturization.

• Age is another reason of male-pattern baldness. On an average almost 50% men face balding by the time they turn 50. In fact, ageing triggers all the factors. So, we can say that ageing acts as a catalyst. Even if you haven’t had it at a younger age, you are likely to face when you’d get older.

• Contemporary researches have revealed that metabolism has a direct impact on hair loss. IGF or Insulin-like Growth Factor triggers elongation of hair follicles. Metabolic syndrome that reduces the production of IGF contributes to the process of balding.

• Increased stress, erratic lifestyle, intake of cocaine are other reasons that give rise to poor metabolic rate and increased production of DHT.

• Poor diet and deficiency of Vitamin B6, B12, Folic Acid, Vitamin A, C and Proteins etc. do prevent hair regrowth and leads to increased rate of shedding.

How to fight back

If you have already reached the stage of shiny scalp, then there are least chances of hair regrowth since the pores are already sealed and locked. Hair cannot peep up.

So the first option should be to buy a couple of good men’s hair replacement systems. These are way less expensive than transplants and the latter is not advisable. We shall explain why.

Hairpieces or hair replacements, if bought from a good supplier, one who has got a reputation of serving clients all over the world for more than 10 years or so, can provide you a comfortable hairstyle to wear with the flexibility of taking it off, whenever you’ll feel like.

Modern hairpieces are so constructed that you can take shower, sleep or run without the fear of detachment. But wise men keep an inventory of hairpieces so that they can swap styles.

One premium quality single hairpiece costs around $160-$200 and if you can buy at least 3-4 and take good care of the pieces, you can use them for a long period.

Do not go for the transplants since the sessions are not only too expensive, the surgery can lead to injuries, neurological issues and also can make you end up with no results at all.

Every human body responds uniquely to the treatment and it has occurred many a time that after spending thousands of dollars, the patient didn’t get any result.

If you are still at the stage of excessive hair loss or receding hairline and no bald patches yet, then consult a dietician and improve your lifestyle. That will reduce the problem.
